Today we trade in my 2009 BMW 535i xDrive. She was only with us for two years and 12,000 miles, but she will be seriously missed. We’re trading her in today as we take delivery of a 2011 Acura MDX fully loaded.
She was a fun car and a very comfortable car, but I always felt like something was missing in our relationship. She was fast and smooth, but I always felt a little too isolated from the road. She is certainly the best looking car I’ve ever owned, and I’ll miss seeing her in the garage.
But alas, the painfully practical side in me realizes that a German Twin -Turbo I6 is probably not the best car to keep forever. The Acura will be my wife’s daily driver and I’ll take her NA V-8 powered FX50 as my dailer driver. A car that is much more raw, has much less body roll (surprisingly) and is simply a brute through the backroads.
It’s a bittersweet day, but there is one concession that makes this feel a bit better. At least the search has begun for a project car. With my wife’s blessing I’m officially looking for an 06-08 Subaru Forester XT w/ a manual transmission. That will be a car that I will keep for as long as it allows me to.

I’m assuming when you say “fully loaded” you mean Advance Package?
Is the FX50 a second gen?

Advance and Entertainment package and yes the FX50 is a 2nd Gen (2009).
